BMW won’t take all the credit for cleaning up Australian exhaust emissions and improving fuel consumption – it’s sharing the credit with customers.
By now you have probably heard about the BMW EfficientDynamics Credit, an innovative scheme devised after studying the success of several overseas government-sponsored scrappage and rebate programs designed to encourage greater use of highly fuel efficient and clean vehicles. Typically, older cars use more fuel and have fewer fuel-saving technologies fitted. Conversely, new cars, such as BMW EfficientDynamics vehicles, are well endowed with efficiency-enhancing technologies.
BMW boasts Europe’s most efficient premium fleet of vehicles^, a fleet that is cleaner than its competitors and increasing in efficiency faster than any other as well. For this, BMW customers may thank the far-sighted and progressive BMW EfficientDynamics programme, which has been in train for several years and which has already put significantly more than one million BMW EfficientDynamics vehicles on the road in Europe.
One of the keys to BMW EfficientDynamics is that it spreads a variety of intelligent fuel and emissions reducing technologies across the entire BMW range, rather than concentrating on a single niche model with a similarly narrow audience. During 2009, BMW Group Australia has embarked on an ambitious programme to be the first BMW market outside Europe to promote BMW EfficientDynamics to the highest level possible. This has resulted in the introduction of the latest technology aimed at reducing fuel consumption and exhaust emissions without compromising core BMW brand values of exhilarating driving experiences. This is expressed most succinctly as Joy.
BMW offers Efficient Dynamics technology across the range, including the ultra-frugal and clean 118d engine (which powers the 2008 World Green Car). This engine is fitted to the 1 Series Sports Hatch and Convertible. Redefining the high-performance turbo diesel concept is the new 150 kW 123d TwinPower Turbo Diesel engine, which is available to buyers of all three BMW 1 Series models.
The BMW EfficientDynamics 320d and 330d engines are now also available in the BMW 3 Series Coupé and Convertible, while the 320d also appears in the BMW 3 Series Touring.
BMW is pleased to encourage intelligent, responsible driving with a minimum $4000 retail value credit offered on the purchase of a new BMW EfficientDynamics vehicle.* To find out more about BMW EfficientDynamics and the BMW EfficientDynamics Credit, visit www.bmw.com.au/efficientdynamics
Read the facts
• In Australia, BMW currently offers 23 models that consume less than 7.0-litres of fuel per 100 km travelled, and the new BMW 118d Sports Hatch (World Green Car of the Year 2008) consumes just 4.5-litres per 100 km *^.
• Even the largest BMW, the 7 Series is an efficient performer. The new BMW 730d demonstrates extraordinary economy, consuming just 6.8-litres per 100 km^* making it the only model in its segment able to take advantage of the Luxury Car Tax Fuel Efficient threshold.
• BMW currently boasts the lowest CO2 emissions of any premium manufacturer and is, according to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, the world’s most sustainable car company.
• The Association of European Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA) says BMW has the most efficient premium fleet in Europe, achieving fuel consumption and emission levels below the overall average of all European car manufacturers.
• In 2008 alone BMW Group reduced average fuel consumption and CO2 ratings by 10.2 percent, again making greatest progress in terms of efficiency, of all car makers in the European car market.
• In Germany the fleet average for all new BMWs sold in 2008 was only 160 grams of CO2 per km, compared with the average for ALL new vehicles sold of 165 g/km.
• Between 2006 and 2008, BMW achieved a reduction in fuel consumption, according to the German Federal Motor Transport Authority, of 16 per cent – more than double the reduction achieved by the next best premium segment competitor.
• With a CO2 emissions average of 154 g/km, BMW and MINI cars rank far ahead of all other premium manufacturers in terms of efficiency, outperforming even the largest European volume manufacturers as well as numerous other car makers with a clear focus in their product portfolio on small cars. This is even more impressive considering the preponderance of six and eight cylinder vehicles in the BMW family.
